Get the humidity right.
Dry winter air means static shocks, cracked trim and scratchy throats. Too damp in the summer and the house feels muggy no matter what the thermostat says. That's why every AC visit includes checking the humidity inside the house.

The cheapest part causes the most trouble.
A clogged filter chokes the airflow, makes the blower work harder, and can shut a furnace right down. A filter jammed in sideways is worse. Filter checks are part of every Club visit, and we'll show you what to look for in between.
Your thermostat might be lying to your furnace.
A thermostat mounted near a draft, a sunny wall or a heat vent reads the wrong temperature, so some rooms run hot while others run cold. Where it sits matters as much as what model it is. It's one of the things we look at when we're in the house.
We check for carbon monoxide before it's a problem.
Carbon monoxide has no smell and no colour. By the time a detector goes off, it's already in the house. That's why every furnace visit includes checking the venting for cracks, the gas lines, and the rest of the gas system. The best place to stop it is at the equipment.
Building code now requires a carbon monoxide detector on every floor if you heat with a fossil fuel, like propane or natural gas.
A clean system is a cheaper system.
Dirty burners, clogged coils and tired parts make equipment burn more fuel for the same warmth. Regular maintenance keeps the system running the way it was built to. It also catches the small parts wearing out before they take the big ones with them.
